Cosmos™ coils are MicroVention's spherical platinum framing and filling coils, designed to form a stable, tightly packed three-dimensional mass within the aneurysm sac. The spherical secondary shape — unlike helical or complex-shaped alternatives — seats itself compactly against adjacent coil loops, minimizing the void spaces that can lead to incomplete aneurysm packing and subsequent recanalization. This geometry makes Cosmos particularly well-suited to wide-neck and bifurcation aneurysms where maintaining coil position during and after deployment is more challenging. The family spans two system sizes: Cosmos 10 (0.010 in delivery system, compatible with Headway 17 microcatheters) covers smaller aneurysms from 2 mm to 10 mm diameter, and Cosmos 18 (0.018 in system, compatible with Headway 17 in the larger sizes) covers 6 mm to 24 mm aneurysms. Coil lengths range from 2 cm through 65 cm, allowing selection of the appropriate coil volume for each packing stage. Cosmos is compatible with both mechanical and electrolytic detachment.
